Flight Attendant Forgets To Leave Gun At Home & It Discharges At Security Checkpoint

Now I guess people are still a bit nervous about airline safety post September 11th, almost 11 years ago (insert small level of sarcasm), but this one right here is a little bit too nervous.

At the Philadelphia Airport, a flight attendant forgot to take a gun out of her purse before leaving for work (meaning she was about to board an airplane, serve peanuts and half a can of orange juice but still have the pistol) then the gun accidentally went off when a police officer was attempting to remove the bullets.

Transportation Security Administration officers noticed the gun while being ALERT and ATTENTIVE on the HIGHLY IMPORTANT JOB (again more sarcasm) and alerted police. Now the flight attendant has a valid gun permit so she is allowed to carry the firearm (but not on an aircraft) so a police officer tried to make the weapon safe by removing the bullets, but instead accidentally fired it. No one was hurt.

Was this cop a rookie or half awake because shouldn’t they be fully trained and able to make a firearm safe without incident??

The flight attendant has been cited for passing the gun through a security checkpoint. The weapon discharge is being investigated by Internal Affairs and the officer who accidentally discharged the gun will go back to training on handling weapons. Yeah he may go to being a flashlight cop.
