The man who became a symbol of civil rights after being a victim of police abuse who later found himself in countless runs again on the other side of the law has died.

Rodney King ,47, for a lack of better words famous for the infamous beating he received on videotape by four white Los Angeles Police Department officers who were then acquitted, which in terms sparked the L.A. riots was found dead in his swimming pool by his fiancee.

King was found by his fiancee at the bottom of the pool by what police officials say are no obvious signs of foul play and will look into a drowning investigation once an autopsy is conducted.

Even though King won a $3.8 million settlement from the City of Los Angeles after the beating incident King would go to jail for 90days  for a hit-an-run incident involving his then wife at the time, on the 20th anniversary of the beating he would get pulled over for a minor traffic violation, and also had a history of drug and alcohol abuse which landed him of the reality show VH1′s Celebrity Rehab.

King will also be always known for the famed Public Service Announcement he made.
